"Wordless" Wednesday

My "Wordless Wednesday" isn't going to be completely wordless. 

Me, at my desk, with no heat. Hat, sweater, hoodie, sweat pants, slippers, and a snuggie. Laugh all you want, but I love that thing.

After work today, Little Fox and I coloured and did some math in his workbook. 

Long Night

That was one long night. Little Fox and I slept upstairs, bundled under many many blankets. Molly Dog must have been cold too, because while she usually sleeps on the bed with me, she rarely gets as close as she was last night! Red Fox "slept" downstairs and kept the fire going. He didn't sleep much... I heard him get up about every hour or so to put more wood in the fire. We are both sleepy today. *gulps coffee*

It's about 14 degrees upstairs, which is warmer than I thought it would be this morning. We closed off the dining room and sun room last night, and it's 11 degrees out there. Red Fox will call the oil guys and make sure we get oil delivered today!

One thing I've been meaning to post on here is that Little Fox has learned to snap his fingers this past month. He practiced a lot, and now he snaps a lot. He's really good at it, and will snap and clap a little beat now and then, especially when he "dances".

Chilly Day

I went for a short run today. Shorter than I planned  (about 3k?)... it's REALLY windy out there! Best invention ever for cold-weather runners? Fleece running pants. Actually, the only part of me that was cold was my face.

I've been playing Toy Story 3 on the xbox with Little Fox. We finally beat a mission that we've been working on. We really need to get Red Fox to figure out how to sign in so that we can save our games. It's getting boring starting form scratch each time!

This morning we went into Summerside and when we got back.... no oil. Again. But we weren't surprised, and one of the reasons we went into Summerside in the first place was to pay for more. It should be delivered today or tomorrow. In the meantime, the sun room is warm, thanks to the sunshiny day, the fire is roaring, and if we have to sleep "on the hearth" than that's ok... we've done it here before! The first time we ever slept here, actually... it was FREEZING. We'll have left over chili for supper and that will warm our tummies. Well, mine and Red Fox's... i think it's too "spicy" for Little Fox.

Loooong weekend

It's been a long weekend... and it's still not over. These "enforced" 4-day weekends are bittersweet. One more day to go.

Anyway. We've spent the weekend here at Foxfield. Little Fox filled his days with lego, dinky cars, movies, playing outside, and xbox racing games. And talking. He hasn't stopped talking. He just went to pee, and talked the whole time.

We made a fire yesterday. It was heaven. It's the first time I've been warm in this house all winter! Molly-Dog and I have a new favorite spot.

We spent a lot of time yesterday explaining to Little Fox that the stove was very hot and that it would burn him. I even went so far as to tell him that if he touched it, he could get a burn that would leave a scar for ever. Then, just before supper time, Red Fox and I were chatting... Red Fox and Little Fox were both standing by the doorway to the dining room. Little Fox took two VERY purposeful steps, and slapped his hand right on top of the wood stove. It was one of those moments when I'm all too aware of how slowly the brain works sometimes... and how slow reaction times can be. He looked over at me, wide-eyed, snatched his hand back and cried.

He's ok, by the way  He cried and cried, and held on to an ice pack for a good hour or 2. I sat him down, put on the Chipmunks to distract him, and he was ok. Just one little blister. I'm amazed and relieved.

Today's excitement consisted of hemming/altering 13 pairs of pants and laundry. Red Fox did an amazing job cleaning the kitchen, and Little Fox has done a good job of playing without asking for the xbox. I've finally caught up with the laundry. That might be a  lie. I finally caught up with WASHING the clothes. They are still not folded or put away.

Just a short one

Fridays seem to go by very slowly when I feel like I should be working. I'm torn between wishing I was working so I could be making money, and appreciating the free time. Makes the day a bit hard to enjoy. I haven't posted in a few days. Haven't been feeling very social...

Last night we had Red Fox's dad over for diner. Nothing special... just that we got a roast and it is too much for just the 3 of us.

Little Fox has been spending him time playing Toy Story 3, and building a "house" with his lego.

Also... when did he start looking so old?!

Count down is on

I registered for the 10k race in Halifax on April 20th. It's called Run Without Borders.

Proceeds from this race will benefit Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / Doctors Without Borders Canada:

My amazing cousin works for MSF in Africa, providing women's heath services. She's basically living my dream, and I'm so proud/jealous of her.

I'm now counting down to that date, and working on a training schedule. Fingers crossed.

60% work... 100% fun

I've been cut back to 60% of my work hours. Unfortunately... hopefully it's a short-term situation.

I decided that today would be one of the days that I DON'T work. Red Fox had to go into Ch'town, so Little Fox and I hitched a ride to go to That Fun Place. It's an indoor playground type place, and it was really fun! They had plasma cars, a trampoline, slides, a swing, all on a big climbing structure. Admission 4 dollars, for unlimited play. Amazing deal!

Little Fox loved it. So did I, I'll admit. I was kind of "that crazy mother" when it came to the trampoline, and I wouldn't let Little Fox on it if another kid came on too. No good can come of more than one kid on a trampoline!

So while my day started out kinda crappy, it ended up being really fun!
