Donations!

Remember a few weeks ago I said that I registered for a 10k race? It's a fundraiser for Doctors without Borders (MSF/DWB). If you'd like to make a sponsor me and make donation, Click Here. This will be my first 10k race, and, honestly, my goal is just to get to the finish line! It might take me 2 hours, but I'll get there!

MSF is an amazing organization, with people like my cousin who are doing things I can only dream about.

I love my kiddo

Every morning, I have a shower. I come out of the bathroom with my towel wrapped around my head. I bend over, flipping the towel upside down and towel-dry my hair. I stand back up, and without fail, Little Fox says "Mommy, I fink you're beautiful" or "Mommy, I fink you look pretty".

Just a few minutes ago, We were having a quick snuggle on my bed with Molly, and I told Little Fox that I love him. He gave me a big squeeze and said "mommy, I'll forever be in your heart."

Yes, my boy. You will be.

Fun

Just a few pictures of the fun we've had lately.

Our pretty Molly wearing her scarf to stay warm while playing outside.

OK, so Red Fox wouldn't exactly call this "fun". The truck was stuck for days. With the help of those traction things that you're supposed to put under the tires and "just drive away". After using about 6 of them (and completely destroying 5) and with me using a big stick to hold one in place, we finally got the truck out.

We went to visit Aunt P and Uncle Nini. Here, Molly and E are playing with Sacha's bone. We also heard all about going to the Dean Brody concert, where they got to meet him!

Red Fox left yesterday to go to Ottawa for a work trip. I took Little Fox to the golf course for some sledding. This photo was taken just after his face plant on his first solo trip down the hill. He has a few scratches on his face now.

He loved it. Look at that grin! :)

First run in too long

I went running today. It has been far too long... I felt ok during the run, for the most part. But now my legs ache. I tried out my "new to me" sneakers. Yes, that's right. I bought Saucony sneakers for 4 dollars at frenchy's. They look like new, and my feet didn't hurt, so I guess so far, so good.

I can't wait until the weather gets better. It was pretty windy, cold, and icy out there today. I only ran the River Road and back, which is about 4k. But it really doesn't feel like that far. The big hill helps... it's really easy to run down it, and I always walk back up (lazy, I know). Molly was all excited to go with me, but I ended up having to pretty much drag her behind me... until the last minute or 2 of the run when she saw that we were almost home. Then she took off and was dragging ME. Anyway, if I'm going to be ready for the 10k in April, I better get my butt back in gear.

Life with boys

Here's another "quote" post, along with some other funny things that Little Fox has said or done lately. Fair warning: This post includes a photo of our toilet (it's clean!).

Quotes:

"I can't eat the cream because I wasn't built for cream. I'm only built for chocolate". He said that during dinner one night. I wish I could remember what we were eating...

*burp*  "Harden me"

Again, a supper quote: "These are rockin' good Mommy!"  "These are spankin' good!"

Playing Cars: "I’m driving this one mommy" (holds up camper)
Me: "Are you going camping?"
Little Fox: "No no… it’s just my dad’s truck. It’s a bringer truck. It brings food… and drink… and even macawoni and cheese."

While looking at pictures of ice: "Mommy, is that the nerf pole?

Also, he calls wind mills wind meals. Because is "beez" or "peez". Without is "be-out" (as in, don't go be-out me!"

Ok, now for the pictures. When you're a work at home mom, this is typically what your office looks like:

Yesterday, I went into the bathroom and this is what I saw:

Those are face cloths. I had sent Little Fox in to wash his face a few mins earlier... Oh. My. God.

Cookies and Ice

Yesterday, I finally used the mixer that mom gave me for Christmas. Little Fox was "bored" so I told him we'd make cookies. We have no chocolate chips, so we made red Fox's favorite: peanut butter.

Whoops... might be a little bit of shell in these... we'll just tell daddy we used crunchy peanut butter.

Delicious!

The cookies are gone already.

The best news is that R and B had their baby! Piper Jennifer arrived late Sunday Feb 17th. She's so cute, but I can't tell if she looks like R or B. I can not WAIT to meet her and see mommy R and daddy B. I hear Piper is already daddy's little girl and has him wrapped around that tiny baby finger of hers. I'm about as excited as I would be if I were actually related to Piper. You know how some friends just feel like family? R and B are those kid of friends. Another of my oldest friends, A, is B's cousin, so that augments the "part of the family" feeling.

Today I walked across the field behind the house to see the ice at the shore. Took me about an hour to get there and back. Molly dog came with me, so now she's exhausted and snoozin on the floor. It was AMAZING. Incredibly beautiful, and I could hear the ice cracking and creaking.

Balls, bridges, and (almost) babies

On valentines day, we went bowling. It was our first time taking Little Fox bowling, but he had been once before with daycare. Are these not the cutest little bowling shoes??

And some action shots...

I'm pretty sure that last one sums up how much fun Little Fox had!

Later that day, I had to go to NS for a work meeting. During the meeting, I happened to mention the amount of ice around the bridge, and my boss wanted a picture.

While in NS, I learned that my best friend was supposed to be induced on Friday, so i decided to extend my stay in NS until Saturday or Sunday so I could go see them and meet their new baby. BUT the induction was postponed until today, so I'll have to wait until another day to see the new baby. :(

Another storm today... again, no running.

Drifting

I can NOT believe the drifts of snow here. I have no idea how much snow we got over the last 2-ish days... in some places we can see the grass, in other places, the drifts are about 7 feet tall. I went outside this morning to do some recon... I knew Little Fox would want to go out and play, but I wasn't sure if he'd fall through a spot that was over his head or what.

Red Fox wanted to do for a drive... and I said that we'd come too, just for fun. So off we went. Here's the thing. In PEI, the wind always seems to blow across the road. no matter WHAT road, or what direction you're going, the snow always seems to blow straight across the road. When there's this much snow, that means there are huge snow drifts across the roads. Our road and the River Road weren't plowed. Since everything around it white, it's REALLY hard to judge how high the drifts are. We hit the first big one with a WHOOMPH. There were a few that made me think we were being recklessly crazy, but for the most part, it was a fun drive. Then when we got back, we almost got stuck in the driveway.

After lunch, Little Fox and I went out to play (Molly too, of course). The big snow drift at the end of the driveway is about 10 feet wide from the fence to the front, and probably reaches at least 7 feet high at the back. We had a great time! Red Fox came outside too, and we all wandered around Foxfield, throwing snow for Molly and digging holes/tunnels through the drifts.

Now, the snow is all pink because of the red PEI dust blowing around.

Interprovincial Renovators

It's been about a week since I last posted. We've been at our NS house fixing it up a bit in hopes that it will sell.

We had a lot to do, but had a lot of help from a lot of people: my dad, my mom, my stepfather, Red Fox's mom, A and L-A and J. Paint, flooring, tile, drywall, plumbing, cleaning moving furniture, taking down wall hangings, etc. We are so grateful for the help. I felt humbled, exposed and a little embarrassed that we needed the help, but I am so thankful that there are people who will help us.

Red Fox and I were at it for a full week, but still didn't get everything finished. The "highlight" of it all for me was when Red Fox dropped his drill bit down the hole for the toilet... his hand was too big to reach it... so... I couldn't find any rubber gloves, so I improvised with a garbage bag. Gag. My mom and stepfather went to the house yesterday to do some finishing touches, staging and to work on the drywall. There's a showing today, so fingers crossed, everyone!

Red Fox and my dad, checking out the status of the furnace

And this is when my headache started...

A and LA fixing up the upstairs bathroom.

 My mom

J had the hardest job of us all... entertaining Little Fox for the day! Thanks J!

 Split hoses finally fixed.

Me, grouting the new tile in the downstairs bathroom.

We brought quite a bit of stuff back to PEI with us. We went over with one suitcase of clothes... and came back with 4 garbage bags full. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?

We're back at Foxfield now. I'm back at my home office, Little Fox is playing cars next to me, and Red Fox is getting ready to go see his potential boss (yay!!!!).

It's a beautiful, but cold, sunnny day. The calm before the storm? We're expecting 20 cms or more of snow tomorrow.

BIG NEWS! Red Fox is now officially employed! Thank God! We went to McDonalds to celebrate (Little Fox's choice), and as soon as Little Fox is in bed, I'm pouring the wine.

Still no word from our realtor about today's showing, so I guess there wasn't an offer... come one people, make all that work worth it!
