Question for the runners

Hey runners. I have a question. Does anyone know why I get cramps when I drink water while I run? I usually take water during races but after I drink it (usually only a sip or 2) I get a cramp/stitch.

What's up with that? Is it just me?

I know I'll need to take in some water/fuel during the half marathon... but I'm afraid I'll get a stitch or cramp every time I do.

  1. That happens to me too Erin. I just know mentally I'll feel crappy for a few minutes after I fuel up but it's worth it since I need the hydration. I find that the stitch only comes for me usually when I'm going too fast. Also try pressing on it and 'grunting.' LOL. I know, but it works for me and I saw it on youtube! :D

  2. Happens to me too. Part of it may be that our breathing gets knocked off by taking in the water. I've been trying to add it to my training runs to get used to it. It's hard to do!
